DJ Carl Cox is undoubtedly, the peoples DJ champion. He has been in the DJ poll top 10 constantly for the last 10 years and No1 several times. Originally from Sutton in surrey, Carl Cox has always been around music and involved with sound systems from a very young age. Having built & run his own sound system since leaving school he then did the circuit of clubs, pubs and weddings etc, till he moved to Brighton in the eighties, where he continued to play the very latest 12” dance cuts from the US, alongside the rare groove and Hip-Hop sound he was into at this time.

Carl was the main DJ and soundman behind the famous 1st avenue parties, that were held in a big penthouse party flat in Brighton. People would travel from all over to hear Carl at these events, which were along the main sea front, and used to run for days.
Then in 1986, the emergence of House music sound from the USA began to filter across the Atlantic and Carl was of course deeply involved from the start. His sound system was one of only 2 constantly hired for the various ‘Raves’ and ‘Acid House’ events that were springing up all over the UK and London and as he always played at each event, his DJ name grew rapidly. Then in 1988, the ‘Summer of Love’ was upon us, and the scene exploded across the UK and constantly in the media. There were huge weekly underground raves in fields and warehouses in and around the M25.

Mr Cox was rapidly becoming known as one of the top DJ’s in the UK and after one famous party in particular called Sunrise, he got the name “Carl Cox the 3 Deck Wizard” after smashing up the dance floor using 3 Technic’s SL1210 turntable’s, simultaneously to the amazement of all who attended. Since these early days, Carl has gone from strength to strength and has played across the world in almost every civilized country. On the eve of the millennium he was the only DJ who actually play at midnight in 2 countries, following the sunrise across the globe in a private jet from gig to gig. He’s done prime time TV on Ch4’s big Breakfast, and still does his regular slot on Kiss100 FM. Readers of DJ Magazine recently voted Carl the best DJ of the past twenty five years.

He still fills huge dance events across the world, has his own night every year in Ibiza and his name is synonymous with the hugely popular Trance techno sound. He currently resides in Australia, only coming back to the UK once or twice a year to tour at various sell out events that he headlines. Carl’s involvement with quality continues, with his endorsement & partnership with the Teachmix brand.
